In July 2022, "First Chimney II" was "de-installed" by the Museum, against the artist's explicit protest, that this would mean its destruction. An article in Frankfurt's major newspaper FAZ describes the controversy. As of September 2026, the sculpture is still listed on the museum's website, as part of its collection. It is, however, currently "not exhibited".
