Berlin Chimney Project (Sixth Chimney) discontinued
Already before the exhibition at Hamburger Bahnhof opened it had become quite clear that there would probably not be any chimney built on the proposed site. Soon after the exhibition had ended it became impossible from an artistic point of view, due to the construction work for the new wing of the museum (housing the Flick Collection).
The connection between the main museum and the new wing had been planned as a tunnel - instead it was turned into a bridge, when old pipes where found in the ground during excavation works. This bridge now efficiently destroys the view of the planned chimney. The project is no more.
In its place, the Seventh Chimney was built in April 2005 in Buxtehude.
